American singer and actress Eartha Kitt, who has captivated audiences for more than 60 years died on Thursday (December 25) at the age of 81. According to Reuters, Kitt died of colon cancer that was detected and treated two years ago, but recurred recently. "She came back strongly. She had been performing until two months ago," Andrew Freedman, her long-time friend and publicist, said. "We had dates booked through 2009." "She was certainly a legendary performer and while I think there may have been many imitations, she was an original," he continued. During her long career, Kitt won numerous awards, including two Emmys, and was nominated for a Grammy and two Tony awards. She also enjoyed musical success with such hit songs as "C'est Si Bon," "Let's Do It" and "Just an Old Fashioned Girl." Kitt was also was widely associated with Christmas because of her hit "Santa Baby." The song, recorded in 1953, went gold this year. She received the gold record before she died.
According to TMZ, the 10,000-sq. ft. Georgia home of T-Boz (real name: Tionne Watkins) is set to go on the auction block in January 2009, after failing to make her mortgage payments. Public records indicate that the singer has defaulted on the original principal of her mortgage, which is reportedly around $530,000, and now the state has taken it.
Just SIX weeks after she was forced to identify the bodies of her murdered mother, brother and nephew, Jennifer Hudson is ready to head back to work! The “Dream Girls” star is scheduled to begin filming a music video next week for her hit, “If This Isn’t Love,” J Records confirms to AP. Jennifer was due to film the video before the tragedies, and has been in seclusion since the murders. Hudson’s estranged brother-in-law, William Balfour, has been charged with the killings.
Here’s another vampire looking to suck the blood right out of their pockets… A photographer is looking for a massive payday from Rihanna and Chris Brown, after he says he was beaten and robbed for snapping a photo of the young couple in May. Luis Santana just filed a $1 million lawsuit in Florida — claiming his $3,000 camera was stolen from him after being form-tackled outside Brown’s 19th birthday party at the Vintage Ultra Lounge in St. Petersburg. Luis says bodyguards for RiRi, Brown and the Lounge attacked him for taking a photo of the couple through their open limo window, according to The St. Petersburg Times.
Barack Obama said that it was was time for a “new beginning” in an “uncertain world” before introducing Hillary Clinton first among the five nominees for his foreign policy and national security team… President-elect Barack Obama called for “a new dawn of American leadership” on Monday as he formally introduced his national security team, led by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton as his nominee for secretary of state. “We will strengthen our capacity to defeat our enemies and support our friends,” Mr. Obama said in Chicago. “We will renew old alliances and forge new and enduring partnerships.” The new president said he was sticking to his goal of removing American combat troops from Iraq within 16 months, which he called “the right time frame,” and that this would be accomplished with safety for the troops and security for the Iraqi people.
New York Giants’ Plaxico Burress turned himself into a New York City authorities on weapons charges after accidentally shooting himself in the leg… Plaxico Burress arrived at a police station early Monday morning, where he was expected to be charged after accidentally shooting himself in the right thigh.The New York Giants star wide receiver arrived in a black Cadillac Escalade wearing jeans and a black coat. Burress, who was not visibly limping, did not speak to the media and walked directly into the precinct. Burress’ lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, wrote in an e-mail to The Associated Press on Sunday that he was advised the player planned to plead not guilty to criminal possession of a weapon. “I do not expect that Mr. Burress will make a statement,” Brafman wrote. He met with Burress for about an hour Sunday at the player’s home in New Jersey. “I would ask that his fans, the Giants and the media withhold judgment in this matter until all of the facts have been disclosed,” Brafman wrote to the AP. Brafman is a well-known criminal lawyer who has defended mobsters and other high-profile figures, including hip-hop impresario Sean “Diddy” Combs on a bribery and gun possession charge in 2001. A college student committed suicide by taking a drug overdose in front of a live webcam as some computer users egged him on, others tried to talk him out of it, and another messaged OMG in horror when it became clear it was no joke. Some watchers contacted the Web site to notify police, but by the time officers entered Abraham Biggs’ home, a scene also captured on the Internet, it was too late. Biggs, a 19-year-old Broward College student who suffered from what his family said was bipolar disorder, or manic depression, lay dead on his bed in his father’s Pembroke Pines house Wednesday afternoon, the camera still running 12 hours after Biggs announced his intentions online around 3 a.m. It was unclear how many people watched it unfold. Biggs was not the first person to commit suicide with a webcam rolling. But the drawn-out drama and the reaction of those watching was seen as an extreme example of young people’s penchant for sharing intimate details about themselves over the Internet. Biggs’ family was infuriated that no one acted sooner to save him, neither the viewers nor the Web site that hosted the live video, Justin.tv. The Web site shows a video image, with a space alongside where computer users can instantly post comments.
The family members of Katt Williams has recently checked the comedian into a mental institution… Actor and comedian Katt Williams, of movies “First Sunday” and “Norbit” fame, apparently has made a stop in Sumter. Unfortunately it was not for one of his stand-up comedy routines but rather a visit with family members that allegedly ended with a psychiatric evaluation at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. On Friday, he turned up in Sumter and allegedly underwent a mental health evaluation for a possible hospital commitment, at the urging of local family members. This was after run-ins with both city and county law enforcement. Sumter Police Department Maj. Perry Herod said officers responded to a call in reference to suspicious behavior by Williams, 35, on Friday morning at the Mount Vernon Inn. “And officers did talk with him, and then my understanding is he went on his own to Tuomey Hospital,” Herod said.”Basically we just received a call in reference to a possible suspicious person, but that’s the extent of the dealings we had with him,” said Sumter Police Chief Patty Patterson. A Lawyer, Deas said the actor came and solicited the attorney’s help early that morning, though he said he has not been hired to represent Williams. During this brief conversation, Deas said Williams told him he felt the police were “attempting to violate his rights” and he was interested in retaining Deas’ representation. “He was alive and in color in my office this morning,” he said. When Deas returned to his office at about 10:30 a.m., Williams was waiting for him. By this time, Deas said, Williams’ behavior had changed. “His demeanor was a little troubled,” Deas said. He said the actor seemed “disoriented.” About that time, family or close friends of Williams arrived to try to take him to the hospital for mental evaluation, Deas said. He said the family was seeking to have the actor committed. He was under the impression the family members were a teenaged daughter and the daughter’s mother. His erratic behavior continued. “He just said that he doesn’t trust anyone anymore,” Deas said. He said he thought “everyone has turned against him. He wasn’t really coherent.” By that point, the actor was “speaking gibberish,” Deas said, though he declined to guess whether the actor was intoxicated. Dennis said the call came in around noon and deputies arrived to transport Williams to the hospital. Though he was vocal in his desire not to go, Williams was not physically aggressive.

But the National Enquirer claims Jackson and Dupri began battling over the failure of her recent tour, which he managed, and which ended with a string of cancelled concerts because of illness and reports of poor ticket sales. And sources tell the tabloid the 36-year-old has moved out of the superstar’s Los Angeles home, and they have agreed to spend time apart. The insider says, “Janet and Jermaine finally hit a wall. They were fighting over his management of her career. In the end, she decided to make a break.”

Texas — A 9-year-old girl’s letter to Santa Claus asking that a
relative stop touching her and her sister has led to the arrest of
a 55-year-old Pharr man on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a
young child, according to a newspaper report. Andres Enrique Cantu,
55, of Pharr, remained in the Hidalgo County Jail Monday night
after his arrest Friday. His bond was set at $100,000. It wasn’t
immediately clear if Cantu had an attorney. The girl wrote the
letter Thursday and turned it in at Cesar Chavez Elementary School,
The (McAllen) Monitor reported. It wasn’t clear whether the letter
was for a school assignment. A probable cause complaint said a
counselor at the school reported that the student turned in a wish
list to Santa asking that the relative stop touching her and her
sister. A day later she was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy
Center in Edinburg, which works with abused children, and told
authorities about the alleged molestation. Police investigators
believe the molestation occurred over a four-year period, according
to the complaint. The newspaper did not identify the relationship
of the man to the girl to protect her identity. The charge against
Cantu is a new one, created by the Texas Legislature last year. It
is part of a series of changes to the penal code called Jessica’s
Law, designed to heighten punishments of sexual predators.

Will Smith is shedding “Seven Pounds” from his pockets and dropping into Scientology! Will Smith is donating a combined $122,500 to the Church of Scientology, broken into these donations: $67,500 to the New York Rescue Workers Detoxication Fund, $50,000 to the group’s Celebrity Center in Hollywood and $5,000 to ABLE, another Scientology offshoot. Smith and his wife have also supported a private school called New Village Academy they opened this fall in suburban Los Angeles that uses Scientology learning concepts.
Caylee Anthony has been missing for months and after everyone pointed their fingers accusing the mother for murdering her child, nothing could have been proven. Until now… The skeletal remains of a small child were found Thursday in woods less than a half-mile from the Orlando home of a missing 3-year-old girl, but officials could not immediately say whether they belonged to the toddler. A utility worker found the body in the outlying middle-class suburb about 9:30 a.m., Orange County Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Solomons said. There was nothing that immediately indicated the remains belonged to Caylee Anthony, he said. Caylee’s mother, 22-year-old Casey Anthony, insists that she left the girl with a baby sitter in June, but she didn’t report her missing until July. Anthony has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with her daughter’s death. Mariah Carey is rumored to be pregnant with her first child! The 38-year-old singer - who married rapper Nick Cannon in a secret ceremony in the Bahamas in April - reportedly looked ecstatic as she left a gynaecologist’s office in Los Angeles recently.
